Formed in 1963 by New Zealand racing legend Bruce McLaren, the operation started life as a Formula 1 team fueled by an unquenchable thirst for victory. As for the brand's first road car, the McLaren F1 (1992), this set the stage for the supercar architecture of the future with its carbon-fiber chassis, central driving position, and a top speed of over 240 mph — a record that would stand for 10 years. Today, McLaren combines Formula 1 technology with bold design, placing vehicles on track and tarmac.
1960s–1990s: Bruce McLaren’s racing teams won their first F1 race in 1968. The history continued to shine even after Chapman's life tragically ended in 1970, as the team collected championships with legends such as Ayrton Senna. The F1 road car (1992) became legendary, combining aerospace technology with analog purity.
2000s–10s: Mercedes's SLR (2003) Pioneered hybrid engineering; MP4-12C (2011) resurrected McLaren Automotive as a brand. A 903-hp hybrid hypercar, the P1 (2013) became part of the "Holy Trinity" alongside Ferrari's LaFerrari and Porsche's 918 Spyder.
The 2020s–Present: The Senna (2018), Speedtail (2020), and Artura (2022)—McLaren's first-ever hybrid series-production car—allow lightweight engineering, electrification, and Monocell carbon-fiber tubs to help raise the envelope from the 750S (2023), which refines supercar perfection, to the Solus GT (2023), which draws on single-seater racing DNA.
Racing Pedigree: 20 Formula 1 Constructors' Championships, 183 Grand Prix wins, innovations such as carbon-fiber monocoques (1981) and active aerodynamics.
Obsession with Weight: A Gram Saved = A Gram Saved; paint is weighed and optimized.
Custom-Made: MSO (McLaren Special Operations) crafts cars to client desires, from gold-plated engine bays to custom liveries.
